பதிவைத் தொடங்கறதுக்கு முன்னாடியே பொறுப்பா ஒரு Disclaimer போட்டுர்றேன். 

Let me responsibly write up a disclaimer right at the beginning of this post. 

இங்கு குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ள இடங்கள் அனைத்தும் நெல்லையில் எங்கள் பெற்றோர் இல்லங்களிலிருந்து அதிகபட்சம் ஒருமணி நேர drive-இற்குள் சென்றுவிடக்கூடியவை. மேலும் இங்கெல்லாம் காலை 6-9 மணிக்குள் ஆள் நடமாட்டம் மிகக் குறைவாக இருந்த சமயத்தில் முகக்கவசம் அணிந்தே சென்று வந்தோம். மற்றபடி நெல்லையைச்சுற்றி பிரபலமான அருவி, அணை போன்ற எந்த சுற்றுலா தலங்களுக்கும் செல்ல ஆகஸ்டில் அரசாங்க அனுமதி இல்லை. காவலர்கள் செவ்வனே அவ்விடங்களைக் கண்காணித்து வந்தனர் என்பதை மகிழ்ச்சியோடு தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறோம்.

All the places mentioned here are within 60 mins drive from our parental homes in Nellai. We visited all these places between 6-9am on various days, fully masked and when human presence was at its least. In the month of Aug, all the places of tourist interest like waterfalls and dams were prohibited for tourists and we saw the Police Dept. implementing this ban with all due diligence.

சேரன்மகாதேவி ஆற்றங்கரை Cheranmahadevi Riverbank

தாமிரபரணி ஆழமில்லாமல் சராசரியாக ஓடிக்கொண்டிருந்தது. குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஆற்றைக் கண்டவுடன் குளிக்கவேண்டும் என்ற நெடு நாள் பேராவல்… நமக்கும் தான். செயற்கை ஒலிமாசு ஏதுமில்லாமல் காற்றில் ஓங்கி உயர்ந்த மரங்களின்  சடசடப்பு, மயிலின் அகவல், நீரோட்டத்தின் சலசலப்பு, சிறு பறவைகளின் கீச்சொலி, காலைக்கதிரின் மிதமான கதகதப்பு என்று ரம்மியமாக இருந்தது அந்த விடியற்பொழுது.

Thamirabarani was flowing with average water, not so deep. After what seemed liked eons, the kids were excited about playing and bathing in the river...we too. That morning was dreamy with no cacophony but only the sounds of tall trees swaying to the wind, the call of peacocks, chirping of birds, flow of water and the gentle warmth of the morning rays.

மெய்மறந்து  மோனித்தாற்போல் நீரிலிருந்து வான் நோக்குகையில், மேலே கருப்புவெள்ளை பட்டாம்பூச்சிகள் கூட்டு சேர்ந்தது போல ஏதோ ஒன்று விர்ரென படபடத்து காற்றிலேயே ஓர் இடத்தில் மையம் கொண்டது. எங்கள் அனைவர் கவனமும் அதன் மீதிருக்க, சில நொடிகளில் சர்ரெனக் கீழே தாவி நீருக்குள் சென்று வாயில் மீனுடன் மேலெழும்பியது அந்த கருவெள்ளை மீன்கொத்தி! எங்கிருந்தோ வந்து ஒரு நொடியில் அது விட்டுச்சென்ற சிற்றலைகள் நீரில் மட்டுமின்றி எங்கள் நினைவிலும் நெடு நேரம் நிலைத்திருந்தன. தட்  NatGeo moment in சேரன்மகாதேவி ஆறு. 

We were in the river, losing ourselves to the mesmerizing ambience. Suddenly there was a whir in the air. Just few feet above us, what seemed like a bunch of black and white butterflies, a winged creature hovered mid-air. It held its position for few seconds and at once deep dived into the river and rose up with a fish in its beak. It was a Pied Kingfisher! The ripples it had created in those few miraculous moments lasted long not only in the waters but also in our memories. A NatGeo style moment in our own backyard.

முக்கூடல் ஏரி Mukkoodal Lake

நெல்லைக்கும் பாபநாசம், தென்காசி, குற்றாலம் ஆகிய ஊர்களுக்கும் நடுவில் அமைந்திருப்பவையே முக்கூடல், சேரன்மகாதேவி ஆகிய சிற்றூர்கள். பச்சை பசேல் வயல்களும் நீர்நிலைகளும் சூழ்ந்த இவ்வழகிய ஊர்களில் நீர் பறவைகளை அதிகம் காணலாம். நாங்கள் சென்றிருந்த பொழுது முக்கூடல் ஏரியில் கண்ணுக்கெட்டிய தொலைவில் இருந்தே பல உள்ளூர் மற்றும் வலசை பறவைகளைக் காண முடிந்தது. 

இந்த பயணத்தில் நாங்கள் பார்த்த புதிய மற்றும் வியத்தகு பறவை குமிழ் மூக்கு வாத்து. வெண்ணிற வயிற்று பகுதியும், பளபளக்கும் கருப்பு ஊதா மற்றும் பச்சை கலந்த முதுகுப்பகுதியும், கருப்பு வெள்ளை திட்டுக்கள் கொண்ட கழுத்து பகுதியும் கொண்ட இப்பறவை அதன் வட்டவடிவ குமிழ் போன்ற மூக்கால் தன் பெயர் பெற்றது. 

Cheranmahadevi,  Mukkoodal are all small towns situated between Tirunelveli and places like Tenkasi, Papanasam, Courtallam. Surrounded by lush green fields and water bodies these towns are home to many wetland birds. The morning when we visited Mukkoodal pond we were able to sight many endemic and migratory wetland birds. 

The most exciting bird that we saw during this visit and for the first time ever is the Knob-billed Duck. It is one of the largest species of ducks unmistakable due to the knob shaped growth on the bill. Adults have a white head freckled with dark spots, and a pure white neck and underparts. The upperparts are glossy blue-black, with bluish and greenish iridescence especially prominent on the lower arm feathers.

ஆம்பூர் ஏரி Ambur Lake

மற்றுமோர் ரம்மியமான காலைப்பொழுது. விக்கிரமசிங்கபுரத்திற்கு அருகில் இருக்கும் ஆம்பூரில் பரந்த ஏரி ஒன்று உள்ளது என்று கேள்விப்பட்டு சென்றோம். இது சில வருடங்கள் முன்னர் பொதுமக்கள் ஒத்துழைப்புடன் தன்னார்வலர்களால் சீர்செய்யப்பட்ட நீர்நிலை என்பது நம்பிக்கையூட்டும் சுவாரஸ்யமான விஷயம். இங்கும் பல்வேறு பெரிய நீர்பறவைகளைக்  காண முடிந்தது.

Ambur is situated near Vikramasingapuram. There is a large water body here which is home to big wet land birds. That this lake which had once silted and dried up was rejuvenated with support and participation from citizens and volunteers is quite promising and interesting.

Birds, usually waders, could be seen standing on one-leg. This is scientifically called as Unipedal resting. Though there are multiple theories stated as the reason behind this the most widespread theory is that they rest on one leg to conserve body heat. There is also a theory that sometimes waders use this to deceive their prey of their presence.

பொதுவாக நீர்பறவைகள் ஒற்றைக்காலில் நிற்பதைக் காணலாம். இதற்கு பல காரணங்கள் கூறப்பட்டாலும், பரவலாக உடல் வெப்பத்தை மேலாண்மை செய்யவே இவ்வாறு நிற்பதாக அறிஞர்கள் கண்டறிந்துள்ளனர். இது போக, இவ்வாறு நிற்பதன் மூலம் நீர்பறவைகள் தன் இரையை ஏமாற்ற முயல்வதாகவும் சில அறிஞர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர்.

மணிமுத்தாறு அணை அருகில் Around Manimutharu Dam

மணிமுத்தாறு அணைக்கு செல்லும் பாதையே மிக அழகு. மயிலாடும் பாறைகளும் மனங்கவர் சோலைகளுமாக அந்தச்சுற்று வட்டாரமே சொர்க்கம் போலிருக்கும். அணைக்கு செல்ல அனுமதி இல்லை என்பதால் வெளியிலேயே சுற்றி பறவைகளையும் குளிர் தென்றலையும் ரசிப்பது என்று முடிவெடுத்து மீண்டும் ஒரு அதிகாலை கிளம்பினோம். 

The road to Manimutharu Dam itself is picturesque and scenic. With Peacocks dotting the rocks and beautiful tree canopies, the whole surrounding looks surreal. As entry was prohibited in the Dam premises we decided that we would just walk around the vicinity and soak-in the fresh breeze and nature. Here are the sightings of that beautiful morning.

எங்கள் வீட்டைச்சுற்றியுள்ள மரஞ்செடிகள், காலி பிளாட்டுகள் இவற்றிற்கு வாடிக்கையாக வந்து போகும் பறவைகள் பல உண்டு. அவற்றுள் சில இங்கே உங்களுக்காக. இவற்றை உங்கள் வீட்டருகில் உள்ள செடிகொடிகளிலும் பொதுவாகக் காணலாம். சில வருடங்கள் முன்பு சென்றிருக்கையில் ஒரு இளம் அரசவால் ஈப்பிடிப்பான், யுரேசியன் ஜே , இராப்பாடி, கொண்டலாத்தி ஆகிய பறவைகளையும் கண்டுள்ளோம். 

There are many bird species that regularly visit our backyard greenery and empty plots around our houses. Here are few of them which we could click during this visit. Many of these could be spotted commonly in any residential locality with average greenery. Apart from these, a sub-adult Indian Paradise flycatcher, Eurasian Jays, a Nightingale and a Hoopoe have also visited us during previous seasons.

கல்லூர் ஆரம்ப சுகாதார நிலையம் Government Primary Health Center Kallur   

ஊரில் இருக்கும்பொழுது எனது கோவிட் தடுப்பூசி தவணைக்கான தேதி வந்தது. தடுப்பூசி இட்ட அனுபவத்தை பகிர்ந்தே ஆகவேண்டும் என்ற ஆவலில் எழுதுகிறேன். வீட்டின் அருகாமையில் இருந்ததால் கல்லூர் அரசு ஆரம்ப சுகாதார மையத்திற்கு சென்றோம். இங்கு ஆச்சரியத்திற்கு மேல் ஆச்சரியமூட்டும் நிகழ்வுகள் நடந்தேறின. முதலில், அரசாங்க கட்டிடம், அரசு அலுவலர்கள் என்றாலே மனதில் எழக்கூடிய ஒரு பொதுவான பிம்பத்தை தகர்த்தெறியும் வண்ணம் அந்த மையத்தின் சுத்தமான சூழலும், ஆங்காங்கே வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த குப்பைத் தொட்டிகளும் திட்டமிட்டு ஆங்காங்கே வகைப்படுத்தப்பட்டு செயல்பட்ட பதிவு counter, சரிபார்ப்பு counterகளும் மிகுந்த வியப்பை ஏற்படுத்தின. 

உள்ளே நுழைந்தவுடன் ஒரு செவிலியர் வந்து பெயர் மற்றும் விவரங்களை பதிவேட்டில் குறித்துக் கொண்டார். ஒரு பெண் மருத்துவர் வந்து என் பொதுவான ஆரோக்கியத்தை பற்றிச் சில கேள்விகளைக் கேட்டறிந்து கொண்டு, பின்னர் தடுப்பூசி இடுமாறு செவிலியரைப் பணித்தார். இரண்டே நிமிடத்தில் வேலை முடிந்தது. கைக்காவலுக்கு இரு Paracetamol மாத்திரைகளையும் கொடுத்து எனது சர்டிபிகேட் இரு நாட்களுக்குள் அப்டேட் ஆகிவிடும் என்றார். எனது தாயாருக்கு சர்டிபிகேட் அப்டேட் ஆகாமல் இருந்ததை பற்றிக் கூறவும், அதையும் பதிவேட்டில் குறித்துக் கொண்டு 48 மணி நேரத்துக்குள் அவர்களது கணினி குழு இதை சரிபார்க்கும் என்று கூறினார். சொன்னது போலவே இரு சர்டிபிகேட்களும் அடுத்த நாளே அப்டேட் செய்யப்பட்டு எங்களது Cowin account-இல் தரவிறக்கம் செய்யப் பெற்றோம். நான் சென்றிருந்த நேரம் அங்கிருந்த வார்டில் மகப்பேறு முடிந்த, நடக்கவுள்ள சில பெண்கள் தங்கியிருந்தனர். வெளியிலிருந்து பார்க்கும்போது அந்த வார்டும் சுத்தமாக பராமரிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. 

வீட்டிற்கு திரும்பும் பொழுது மனம் முழுக்க விவரிக்கவொண்ணா நிறைவு. மாநிலத்தின் தென் கோடியில் ஏதோ ஒரு கிராமத்தில் செயல்பட்டு வரும் ஒரு   அரசு சுகாதார மையம் இவ்வளவு திறன்பட இருக்குமென்றால், இந்த சமூக நோக்கம் வாய்ந்த மருத்துவக் கட்டமைப்பை நிறுவ அடிகோலிட்ட எல்லா முன்னாள் இந்நாள் அரசுகளையும், அரசு அதிகாரிகளையும், மருத்துவக் குழுக்களையும்,  தலைவர்களையும் ஒரு நிமிடம் நன்றியோடு நினைக்கத்தான் தோன்றியது.

When we were in Nellai my covid vaccination was due. As it was close to our home we decided to get it done at the Kallur Govt. Primary Healthcare Center. I must share my experience. First of all, shattering the common image one would have for a Govt. building or officials, the clean and hygienic upkeep of the place, placement of quite a few garbage bins within the small campus, systematic segregation of counters for various tasks etc., were quite surprising. As soon as I went in, a nurse asked me for my name, general details and wrote them down in a register maintained exclusively for covid vaccination. Every night-shift a data entry operator visits the hospital and uploads all these details into the COWIN website. Subsequent to the nurse, a lady doctor examined my general health and approved the nurse to give me the shot. The job was over in 2mins and I was sent home with 2 paracetamol tablets for precautions sake. When I informed about the delay in my mom's vaccination certificate, the nurse noted that down also and said both mine and my mother's would be updated in the next 48hours. And so it was done, the next day itself. When I was in the center I noticed that there was a maternity ward where few ladies were staying post/pre delivery. From the entrance of the ward, it also appeared well maintained.

On my way back home and to this date, a feeling of great satisfaction engulfs me whenever I think of this experience. If the Govt. Primary Healthcare Center in a non-descript village somewhere in the southern corner of the state would function this effectively, then one cannot stop thinking about the foundations of this huge socio-medical framework laid and built with great foresight by all the earlier and current Governments, Govt. Officials, Medical teams and Leaders over decades. A moment of gratitude indeed.
