Gurudongmar Lake 5183 m(17,000 ft) above sea level-North Sikkim PC: Kalirajan Subramanian |
Lachen, North Sikkim. 20th April 2015. How about
one night in a small town, 9000ft above sea level somewhere in the north-east?
How about a drive through the lofty mountains just after sunset, with a
pristine river constantly alongside for company? Sounds heavenly? Or is it
indeed heaven? Call it a moment of epiphany, sudden burst of thrill, whatever.
But this seems to be it.

Belief would
say, if life has brought us, the threesome, to this remote place we never
dreamt-of, there has to be some reason! Intellect would counter that we were
just right in choosing our holiday destination. Either ways, this is
undoubtedly bliss! The simple fact of being in the altitudes of “The
Himalayas”, the feeling of being a mere miniscule, witnessing people live a life that is lot
simpler and a lot more joyful, all clarifies one thing for sure.
Nature is the Supremo.

There is
only one planet we all call home. We are not convincingly close even to the
theory of the existence of another. So, why don’t we simply yield? For nature’s
kindness, we’ve been shameless to reap. Her beauty, we are yet to fathom. Her
wrath, we just cannot handle. No shallow democracy/sovereignty business here.
An indisputable monarchy. Only nature at the helm. Let us all happily be her subjects.

Oh Lachen,
