Another Year

(what's the fuss about new year)

Another day at work 
for Earth, Sun and the sojourners

Then what makes it special for us

to celebrate, a planet’s accomplishment

as if it were ours?

Mere mortals we are
with such finery and finesse

to covertly consume others’ strength

drain the last ounce of their worth

With every tsunami, every havoc

millions of flora and fauna die.

But who makes the loudest cry?

Scarlets and Hyacinths

Panthers and Antelopes

the deciduous and the evergreen

are all crucial just for who they are

Alas, my lonely human breed

Hasn’t yet learnt to fit-in at all !
